Expect I-84 Delays Through the Gorge on Labor Day Weekend
Travelers heading through the Columbia River Gorge this Labor Day weekend should plan for delays on I-84 between Ainsworth State Park and Bonneville Dam. Construction of the new eastbound McCord Creek Bridge near Dodson is ongoing, with one lane in each direction remaining closed as traffic in both directions shares the westbound bridge.
Construction began in spring 2025 and is expected to continue through fall 2026.
Allow extra travel time and check TripCheck.com for the most up-to-date traffic conditions.
Oxbow Regional Park Closing September 8 for Water System Replacement
Oxbow Regional Park will close temporarily beginning September 8 for water line replacement. The project will bring more reliable access to drinking water throughout the park, but requires heavy machinery and extensive digging along the park's only road.
The entire park will be closed during construction, including the boat launch and equestrian trail. Salmon Homecoming at Oxbow has been canceled this year as a result. The park is expected to reopen in January 2027.
Visitors are encouraged to plan a trip to the park before September 8.
Share Your Feedback on the Stark Street Bridge Replacement Project
September 2 on Instagram
Multnomah County is seeking community input on the Stark Street Bridge Replacement Project. A survey is now open through October 19.
The county's draft recommendation is to build a new, seismically resilient bridge next to the existing structure, with the current bridge potentially remaining open for people walking and biking.
A Spanish-language version of the survey is expected in September. (Se espera una versión en español para septiembre.)
Final First Friday Street Fair of the Summer — September 4
The last First Friday Street Fair of the summer takes place this Friday, September 4 in historic downtown Troutdale from 5:00–9:00 p.m. The event is a great way to kick off Labor Day weekend with local makers, live music, food, drinks, and family fun.
Please note that Historic Columbia River Highway closes to vehicle traffic between Buxton and Kibling at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Downtown parking will be limited, so attendees are encouraged to use the free Sasquatch Shuttle or plan ahead for street parking on surrounding blocks.
