Did you miss this year’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Mayors Square? Even though the pandemic forced the City to change the way the event normally is held, we couldn’t stand to see our beloved annual tradition disappear completely from the calendar!
Thanks to some great work by Kiwanis of the Columbia Gorge, City staff, and Councilor Nick Moon among many others, we managed to take the Tree Lighting virtual. The event was hosted by City Manager Ray Young, featured holiday music by the East Wind Carolers and featured special guests including our new mayor, the Gresham Fire Department and Santa and Mrs. Claus! So sit back with a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy the festivities!
Quick facts about this year’s tree:
The tree is a Grand fir (Abies grandis)
It stands at 40 feet tall – the tallest we’ve had yet!
Our tree came from Shriver Farms in Gresham
It took the work of four parks staff members to guide the tree into its stand
