On a spring day in 1970, 20 million Americans joined together for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform. Not only did this mark the first Earth Day, it also continued the growth of the environmental movement, and even helped spawn the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Earth Day now includes events in nearly 200 countries and countless communities around the globe – including Troutdale.
Join the City of Troutdale and SOLVE for our Earth Day celebration in the forest at Columbia Park on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We'll be pulling invasive weeds and planting native species that support wildlife and healthy ecosystems. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. We'll provide the tools and plants – just wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. After working up an appetite, enjoy lunch on us as a thank you for your help!
