Every year the City selects a portion of the existing noncompliant curb ramps and improves them to comply with today’s ADA standards. This is an important task as all routes and facilities throughout the City should be accessible to all. The ADA curb ramps selected are based on a combination of future paving projects that require the ADA curb ramps to be improved as a prerequisite, ADA related complaints received by Troutdale residents, and by the City’s ADA transition plan which ranks ADA curb ramps on priority.
The 2026 ADA improvements will include the replacement of 15 old curb ramps with new ADA compliant curb ramps at four different locations around the city. The locations to be improved are the west side of Imagination Way, the north side of Lewellyn Park, the intersection of SE 24th Circle and SE Lewellyn Avenue, and the intersection of SE Stott Circle and SE 33rd Street. See the map below for more details on the work that will be done.
The construction is tentatively planned to occur between July and September 2026. The contractor who will be doing the construction has yet to be determined. This web page will be updated with more details as this project develops.
The nature of this work does not require substantial parking or traffic restrictions but be aware that pedestrian routes will be temporarily altered and you will notice typical inconveniences associated with construction work such as daytime noise, construction traffic, construction vehicles/equipment parked on the street, and some short-duration traffic control/flagging operations. Construction at each intersection is expected to last 2-3 weeks as each curb ramp will be constructed separately. This is done to make sure that the pedestrian access route can be maintained with minimal detours.
