The City of Troutdale is aware of the regional chlorine shortage and is taking the appropriate steps to deal with the situation. The city wishes to assure the public that Troutdale’s potable water system is functioning as required and will be able to meet the summertime demands of its residents and businesses. No water use curtailment is forecasted and summertime water supplies will not be compromised by this chlorine shortage.
If the shortage continues into the summer, water users may notice a slight change in their tap water taste and a slight increase in organic odors. These possible changes at the tap are not harmful to tap water consumers.
The city will continue to monitor the situation and will react as needed, while keeping the safety and water supply needs of its customers and citizens first in mind.
