The City has contracted with Peterson CAT to provide and install a new backup generator for the City’s Well #5. This natural gas-powered backup generator will improve the City’s resiliency and be essential in the event of a power failure at the City's most productive well, and will help greatly to ensure the City is able to reliably meet the demand of potable water to Troutdale residents even when the power grid fails due to inclement weather or other events. This backup generator is installed on a concrete pad and will likely have a building/roof added sometime in the future to provide enhanced protection from the elements and/or vandalism/theft, to further ensure it is always operable in an unexpected event. The generator had an extremely long lead time on production and delivery, but finally arrived and was set into place in May of 2024. Final connections are in progress and testing/commissioning/startup is anticipated in early to mid summer 2024.
