The City of Troutdale is grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response to the opening of Sharon Nesbit Heritage Park. We are committed to keeping the community informed about any changes that affect access to this important new public space.
Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) has notified the City that it is requiring the temporary closure of the trail segment that passes beneath the UPRR trestle behind the Gateway to the Gorge Visitor Center. This closure is being mandated solely by Union Pacific Railroad and will remain in effect until UPRR completes and approves its final inspection of the trestle area, which may take up to several weeks.
During this period, the public will not be able to enter Sharon Nesbit Heritage Park from the Visitor Center (south) entrance. However, the park will remain fully open and accessible from the north entrance on NW 257th Way, located behind the Gorge Outlets. For the most convenient parking, enter the Gorge Outlets, take the first left, and follow the drive as it curves to the right behind the building.
We will share updates on the reopening of the trail as soon as they are provided to us by Union Pacific Railroad.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
